SWIM TESTS

      SWITESTS for summer camp and rank requirements will be held at the YMCA pool on Thursday, May 24th at 7:30pm.

There will be no regular Troop meeting that night.   All scouts who need the swim test (regardless of whether they are going to camp or not) should arrive at the YMCA on Market St. no later than 7:15pm.   Wear your bathing suit and bring a towel.   Goggles are not permitted.

Here are the Swim Test Categories:

BSA SWIMMER:  (1st Ctass requirement): Jump feetfirst into water over the head in depth, level off, and begin swimming. Swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be swum continuously and include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating. 

BSA  BEGINNER (2nd Class requirement): Jump feetfirst into water over the head in depth, level off, swim 25 feet on the surface, stop, turn sharply, resume swimming as before, and return to starting plac

BSA NON-SWIMMER:  Unable to complete the beginner swim test.  (Will still be able to swim at camp - in the shallow area only)

Service Project at NourishNC!

Who:  Scout and adults....total of 8.  Each scout must have a parent with him in the warehouse.

When: Monday -  May 21, 2018

Time: 4:30-5:30pm

Where: NourishNC....601 Greenfield St.  Wilmington

Parking:  If the NourishNC lot is full, do not park in neighboring lot.  There are spaces on 6th St. available for overflow.

What to wear:  Class B t-shirt, scout short/pants, closed-toed shoes,   jacket/hoodie if needed  (warehouse is not heated/cooled)

What are we doing:  Scouts will help pack backpacks or boxes with food for kids in need.   Sorting and counting food from food drives also a possibility.

Sign-Ups:  Event registration will open about 2 weeks prior to each event.   Attendance will be capped at 8 scouts.  Minors under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please make note of the following CAMP RAVENKNOB - related items:

1.  Final balance due by May 10th -   checks payable to Troop 215 or you can use a credit card

2.  Medical Forms Parts A, B & C required.     Part C requires physicain signature.   Also, please attach copies of front/back of your medical insurance card.   TURN IN TO ADAM ALBRIGHT ASAP!!

3.  Swim test prior to camp -   tentative date Thursday, May 24th (in lieu of regular troop meeting) -   more detail TBD

When:  May 12, 2018

Who: up to 6 scouts -  priority to 1st Class scouts and up

Time: 8:00 - 10:30am

Wear:  Class B uniform and hat

Sign-up under event registration....****event will disappear from signup once the 6 slots are filled.

Ad Altare Dei Catholic Religious Emblem - class coming soon!

   We are in the planning phases for another Ad Altare Dei Catholic Religious Emblem course. 

  Course will most likely be 6 monthly meetings beginning in August 2018 and ending prior to Scout Sunday in February 2019.

  Scouts must be Catholic.   Also must be at least First Class Rank and in 7th grade or higher when course begins.

Cabin Lake County Park - last camping trip of the year!

      Sign up now for our May 4-6 Camping Weekend at Cabin Lake County Park!

Troop will cover the camping fees and part of the food ...only $5 per person for the entire weekend!

Great opportunity to complete some rank and merit badge requirements.   Also planning a flag retirement ceremony.
